To meet the demands of the many industries requiring tougher and more capable heavy duty modes of transportation, Ford offers the 2014 Super Duty F-450, which offers consumers not only brute strength, but a wide variety of options in terms of design and car technology. Here are a few important things you need to know about the 2014 Ford Super Duty F-450:
F-450’s exterior design features a locomotive-like hood and grille, which tells us that there is tremendous power lurking beneath. In addition, F-450 is offered in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trim levels. Aside from very few minor changes to the exterior, Ford maintained the same design as the previous years’. Moreover, the Platinum version gets great amounts of chrome adorning the door handles, mirror caps, running boards, exhaust tip and tow hook, perforated mesh accents and a satin chrome surround for the grille, and unique and chic 20-inch wheels.
Despite the minor changes in design, F-450′s interior remains to be surprisingly refined and high-tech. It is also only available as a four-door Crew Cab model with an eight-foot bed and four-wheel-drive. Also adding to its impressive features are sound deadening measures that highlight the Bluetooth-based “SYNC” connectivity system, which come standard on all but the base model. Voice command controls the sync connectivity system, which allows drivers to play music and create calls or read aloud text messages for convenience. In addition to this is the MyFord Touch system which controls the navigation systems and climate control also through voice commands. It also has a center-mounted eight-inch touchscreen, dual 4.2-inch displays in the instrument cluster and touch-sensitive controls in the center stack.
The massive F-450 is powered by a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 that can reach up to 400 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duties. This engine powers F-450 to a maximum payload capacity of 5,880 pounds and towing capacity up to 18,500 pounds.
Prices for the 2014 Ford Super Duty F-450 start at $50,685.
